"It is a bi-monthly journal that comes in a well illustrated, lively format which is quick to read and easy to handle. Its readership includes trade union membership, researchers, academics, students, members of the business community, government departments and a wide international audience.

"The SALB is governed by an editorial board chaired by Dr Sarah Mosoetsa who is employed as a researcher at the Development Bank of South Africa. The editor, Kally Forrest, was a trade unionist in the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) union during the turbulent apartheid years in the 1980s and early 1990s. She has written and edited a number of popular trade union histories and has completed a PhD on the history of the National Union of Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa).
