Sources for FTD Corp Charts

The data included in the corporate charts are compiled from a variety of reports and documents as listed below:

• The Company Name and CEO Name fields were taken from data available on the Fix the Debt website. The most recent version of the list was updated on January 11, 2013.

• CEO Compensation numbers were obtained from the companies' 2011 proxy reports, SEC form DEF 14A. The values represent 2011 total CEO compensation.

• CEO Retirement Assets were obtained from a report from the Institute for Policy Studies, released on November 27, 2012 called "A Pension Deficit Disorder: The Massive CEO Retirement Funds and Underfunded Worker Pensions at Firms Pushing Social Security Cuts". The values represent a combination of pension and non-qualified deferred compensation. The data was compiled by IPS from the companies' SEC filings.

• Underfunded Company Pension numbers were obtained from the companies' 2011 proxy reports, SEC form DEF 14A. The values represent the funding status of the pension program at the end of the year 2011.

• Annual Company Revenue numbers were obtained from the annual reports filed by the companies, generally available on their official websites. The values were labeled as net or total revenue, net or total sales, or net income for 2011 in the annual reports, the specific wording varied slightly between companies.

• Tax Dodger numbers were obtained from data compiled by Citizens for Tax Justice in their report released November 2011, "Corporate Taxpayers & Corporate Tax Dodgers 2008-10". The value represents the average of the tax rates from 2008, 2009, and 2010.

• Territorial Tax Break numbers were compiled from the Institute for Policy Studies report released on November 13, 2012 "The CEO Campaign to 'Fix' the Debt: A Trojan Horse for Massive Corporate Tax Breaks". The values represent the calculated potential savings for the company if a territorial tax system were implemented.

• Federal Lobbying/Political Donations (09-12) numbers were compiled from a report by Public Campaign released on November 19, 2012 "Un-Shared Sacrifice: How 'Fix the Debt' Companies Buy Washington Influence & Rig the Game". The total lobbying number is combined data from 2009 to 2012. It combines the amount the company's PAC contributed to campaigns, the amount the CEO donated to political campaigns, and the amount these companies spent on lobbying in those years. Public Campaign compiled the numbers using data from the Center for Responsive Politics. The data was compiled before the final reporting period for the 2012 election cycle was over, so it does not represent the total spending in the 2012 elections cycle.
