"Barry started teaching in 1974 and has worked in a range of challenging inner city schools. As well as being a class teacher of mathematics and ICT he has been a Head of Mathematics, a Vice Principal and an outstanding Headteacher.

"Barry has a Masters in Mathematical Education from Loughborough University and an Honorary Doctorate from Nottingham Trent University. He was the Midlands Headteacher of the Year in 2007 and was awarded an OBE for Services to Education in 2008.

"His key responsibilities are: Group vision. quality and standards. Developing new business and liaising with Ministers, the DfE, Local Authorities and Partnerships for Schools (PfS). Ensuring the efficient delivery of new projects. "[1]
