Biographical Information

"Simon Mills is a Cambridge graduate in medical sciences and a herbal practitioner. He is Managing Director of SustainCare, a community interest company dedicated to developing new models of self-care. He is project lead on the Department of Health project 'Integrating Self Care in Family Practice'. Mr Mills is the author or co-author of a number of books on phytotherapy and herbal medicine, most recently: The essential guide to herbal safety.

"At Peninsula Medical School he developed the first taught MSc programme in Integrated Health care at a UK medical school and co-founded the world’s first University centre dedicated to studying complementary health care.

"Mr Mills is Secretary of the European Scientific Cooperative on Phytotherapy, working to ensure the quality, safety and efficacy of herbal medicines in collaboration with the European Medicines Agency. He is the past President of the British Herbal Medicine Association, has been an advisor to government on herbal medicine and was a Special Adviser to the House of Lords Science and Technology Committee Inquiry into Complementary and Alternative Medicine."[1]
