"Simon is the Programme Director for the Sciencewise Programme, a member of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics and a Fellow of WWF UK. He was a trustee and member of Council for Voluntary Services Overseas from 1997-2007, and a Trustee and Chair of Democratic Audit, 2008-2014.

"Simon was Director of Involve from 2009 - 2017. Before moving to Involve Simon was a Research Fellow at ODI from 2006 – 2009. His interests included stakeholder engagement in the reform of the international aid delivery system and the effectiveness of development finance. Prior to this he was the Executive Director of the One World Trust from 1999 – 2005 where he initiated and oversaw the development of the influential Global Accountability Index. Simon has taught English in Namibia and science in Zimbabwe, and was an election monitor in Bosnia Herzegovina after the Dayton Agreement." [1]

In addition to his role with Involve, Simon is also the Chair of Democratic Audit, an Ambassador for WWF UK and a member of the Steering Committee of the ScienceWise Expert Resource Centre. Before moving to Involve Simon was a Research Fellow at ODI from 2006 – 2009." [1]

He as a Research Fellow with CAPE. He joined ODI in June 2006 after spending seven years as Director of the One World Trust. As Director he led the team which developed the influential accountability framework used for assessing the accountability of global organisations. While at the Trust he developed experience in this field and in the engagement of civil society in global governance processes.

"Simon will be responsible for developing a programme of work around reform and restructuring of the aid architecture. This work will encompass the EU, UN and Bretton Woods institutions as well as the changing role of bilateral donors. In his capacity as the facilitator of the Forum for the Future of Aid he will work with ODI's partner organisations to find ways to better engage civil society and parliaments in the debate about the reform of the aid system."
