Shonaig Macpherson CBE, FRSE, DUniv "practiced as an intellectual property lawyer for over 20 years. Recognised as a leader in her field, Shonaig retired from the law in September 2004 when she was a Senior Partner in McGrigors, one of the United Kingdom's top 40 law firms. Shonaig holds a variety of non-executive positions including Chairman of the National Trust for Scotland and Chairman of ITI Scotland Limited.

"She was the first ever non-executive member of the Management Group and Strategy Board of The Scottish Executive, performing that role from 2001 to August 2007. In addition she is Chairman of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry, a board member of the Edinburgh International Film Festival and Edinburgh International Conference Centre Limited. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Shonaig is a Governor of Edinburgh College of Art and a member of the Convocation of Heriot-Watt University." [1]
