Shannon Biggs

Shannon Biggs "directs the Local Green Economy project and oversees the department of development at Global Exchange, an international human rights organization that works to educate the U.S. public about root causes of social, environmental and economic injustice and mobilize for change. She is the author of the forthcoming publication, Building the Green Economy: Success Stories from the Grassroots (Polipoint Press, Fall 2007) and wrote the Global Exchange report, Election Readiness 2004: It’s Never Too Late For Transparency. She is also a regular contributor and editor for Global Exchange publications.

"From 1999-2002, Shannon served as the Director of Operations and Development at the International Forum on Globalization (IFG), where she organized teach-ins and served as staff editor/contributor for IFG publications. Prior to that she was a lecturer of International Relations at San Francisco State University, and the Director of Development for Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

"Shannon holds a Masters in Economics: Empire and Post Colonialism from the London School of Economics (LSE) (1996). Shannon serves on several non-profit boards in her home of San Francisco, California." [1]

"She is the co-author and editor of two books, Building the Green Economy: Success Stories from the Grass Roots (PoliPoint Press), and The Rights of Nature: The Case for a Universal Declaration of the Rights of Mother Earth. She also sits on the board of directors for the Oakland Institute and is a founder of the Global Alliance for the Rights of Nature and co-chair of the Advocacy Working Group . Previously, she was a senior staffer at International Forum on Globalization (IFG), where she organized large international teach-ins and wrote and edited for IFG publications." [2]
