Seyom Brown

Seyom Brown "is Lawrence A. Wien Professor of International Cooperation with the Department of Politics at Brandeis University. Prof. Brown's expertise lies in international relations and world politics. He teaches on the causes and prevention of war and human rights issues and his writing focuses on the U.S. policy implications of changing patterns in world politics. His most recent book, The Illusion of Control: Force and Foreign Policy in the 21st Century, was published by The Brookings Institution in 2003."

"Seyom Brown has held senior research and policy analysis positions at the RAND Corporation, the Brookings Institution, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and has served as a Special Assistant in the Office of International Security Affairs in the Department of Defense and a Special Assistant to the Director of Policy Planning in the Department of State.

"After leaving the Carnegie Endowment, he has been the Lawrence A. Wien Professor of International Cooperation at Brandeis University. He has also taught at Harvard University, the Columbia University School of International Affairs, the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, the School of International Relations at the University of Southern California, and UCLA.
