Sandra Samaan Tamari

Sandra Samaan Tamari "first became interested in international affairs by studying Arabic as an undergraduate student at the University of Florida . She studied abroad during her junior year at Yarmouk University in Irbid, Jordan and after finishing her B.A. in Anthropology set off for a year of study and work in Amman, Jordan and Ramallah, Palestine under a Fulbright grant. She continued her studies at Georgetown University completing an M.A. in Arab Studies. She has traveled extensively in the Middle East with visits to Syria, Egypt, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Turkey. In 2003, she spent a year studying German in Berlin. Prior to joining SIUE, Sandra served as the Assistant Director of Georgetown University’s Center for Contemporary Arab Studies and as a Program Coordinator for AMIDEAST.

"Primary responsibilities: Increase international student population at SIUE, to coordinate departmental procedures relating to international student admissions, to address international applicant questions and concerns." [1]
