Biography

"Rodney was Chief Executive of Leicester City Council from 1996 - 2008, during which time it won 9 Beacon Council awards for innovation and excellence and became Britain’s first Environment City, first European Sustainable City and first major city to win the EU’s Eco-Management and Audit Scheme accreditation. Leicester is the UK’s most ethnically diverse city and Rodney was appointed by the government to the Migration Impacts Forum to lead aspects of work designed to improve the integration of new arrivals into our communities.

"Born in Karachi, he has lived in Thailand, Aden and Ethiopia. He started at the Greater London Council after reading Law and Theology at Cambridge University and has an Honorary LLD from De Montfort University for services to the community. The author of 90,000 Hours: Managing the world of work, he enjoys speaking about work and faith on radio and at Christian conferences, his own work experience having included spells as a farm hand, a waiter and an encyclopaedia salesman."[1]

It was reported that former council boss Rodney Green earned £153,152 a year just before leaving the council. [1]

"Rodney Green is a non-executive director of British Waterways and a trustee of conservation agency A Rocha International. He spent 12 years as Chief Executive of Leicester City Council, was Assistant Chief Executive of West Glamorgan County Council, and Assistant County Education Officer of Surrey County Council. Rodney has held more than a dozen non-executive posts including one at the National Space Centre and ministerial appointments on the national advisory panel for the Beacon Scheme. He has been Prior and Chairman of the trustees since June 2010." [2]
