Richard Ponzio

"My research interests include post-war democratization and the role of IOs, the theory and practice of human security, and UN reform. At present, I am undertaking my doctoral field research in Afghanistan on the subject "International peacebuilding through democratic legal authority formation: the case of Afghanistan, 2001-2005". I have participated in UNDP, UN, and OSCE peacebuilding operations in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Hercegovina, Kosovo, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, and the Solomon Islands. I have also contributed to various Human Development Reports (Global: 2001,2002; South Asia: 1998, 1999; Solomon Islands 2002; Kosovo: 2004; and Afghanistan: 2006)." [1]

"Richard Ponzio has recently arrived from Oxford, England, where he is based with his wife Kuniko. As a Strategic Planning Advisor, he will assist the country team on a programme support strengthening exercise, upcoming programming missions, the Country Programme Action Programme (2006-2008), and the development of staff capacity in the areas of policy analysis, dialogue and advocacy, with a special near-term focus on the Afghanistan National Development Strategy."
