Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner (Spain)

"Current and Previous Positions: Following posts as a university professor in Chemical Engineering from 1951 to 1955, Mr Díez-Hochleitner served as Inspector General for Technical Education for the Ministry of Education, Spain, from 1955 to 1956. From 1956 to 1957 he was Director of Education Planning Colombia. He served as Senior Advisor on educational planning and administration to the Organization of American States from 1957 to 1958. Between 1958 and 1962 Mr Díez-Hochleitner initiated a number of educational planning programs and institutes on several continents. From 1963 to 1964 he served as Head (initiator), Department of Investments in Education at the World Bank, then as Director, Department of Educational Planning and Financing at UNESCO from 1964 to 1968. From 1968 through 1972 Mr Díez-Hochleitner served as Technical Secretary-General, later Under Secretary of State for Education and Science in Spain and as President of the National Educational Research and Development Centre. He is a member of the Spanish National Research Council (since 1971), the United Nations Committee for Science and Technology (1972 to 1957), and served as Senior Advisor to the OECD Secretary-General on Education and Employment from 1974 to 1979. Mr Díez-Hochleitner served as Chairman of the Spanish Chapter of the Club of Rome from 1976 to 1990, as Vice President from 1988 to 1995, and as President from 1995 to 2000. He is currently Honorary President of the Club of Rome and a member of its Executive Committee, as well as Senior Advisor to the UN University for Peace, Costa Rica (since 2001)." [1]
