Piraya Film "is an independent production company that makes creative documentaries for cinema, television and festival distribution. Piraya Film has offices in Bergen and Stavanger, Norway.

"The company was founded in 1999 by filmmakers Torstein Grude and Trond Kvist with the aim of making creative documentaries with high professional and artistic standard and quality. All of the company’s films are spirited, with social involvement intent on raising both insight, people’s contribution to society and practical solidarity." [1]

In 2005 they received a grant from the NED "To draw attention to human rights abuses committed in North Korea's political prisoner concentration camps. Piraya Films will organize, produce, and film a theater play about life in the Yo Dok camp, which will be performed by survivors of the camps." [2]
