Philip J. Deutch is a Managing Director of Perseus, L.L.C., a Washington, D.C. and New York City-based private equity firm. Mr. Deutch has lead Perseus' energy technology investing since 1997 and is a member of the Board of Directors of Beacon Power Corporation (NASDAQ-BCON), Metallic Power, Inc., Northern Power Systems and International Marketing Concepts. Mr. Deutch also serves as an officer of Perseus CDO I, Corp. and as an Observer to the Board of Directors of Encorp. Mr. Deutch is a former Observer to the Boards of Directors of SatCon Technology and Proton Energy.

Prior to joining Perseus, Mr. Deutch worked at Williams & Connolly and in the Mergers and Acquisitions Department of Morgan Stanley & Co. Incorporated.

Mr. Deutch holds a J.D. with distinction from Stanford Law School and a B.A. from Amherst College where he was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

Mr. Deutch is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations; a Trustee of the Washington Performing Arts Society; a member of the Board of Directors of the International Center for Research on Women and the City Lights School of Washington, D.C.; and a member of the Board of Advisors of Jumpstart DC.
