Biographical Information

"Paul Raskin is a co-founder and president of the Tellus Institute. In addition, Dr. Raskin established the Global Scenario Group (GSG), the Great Transition Initiative, and the U.S Center of the Stockholm Environment Institute. His work has focused on developing visions and strategies for advancing toward a sustainable and just future, and he has pioneered several widely-used models integrated social, economic, and environmental assessment. Dr. Raskin has served as a lead author on the U.S. National Academy of Science’s Board on Sustainability, the International Panel on Climate Change, the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, the Earth Charter, UNEP’s Global Environment Outlook, and numerous other international efforts. His numerous publications address a wide range of socio-ecological issues, and include Great Transition: The Promise and Lure of the Times, the path-breaking GSG essay on global futures. Dr. Raskin received a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Columbia University in 1970."[1]
