Paul Baumann is NHS England’s Chief Financial Officer. He joined NHS London, the Strategic Health Authority, in May 2007 after 22 years of experience of international financial management and strategic leadership at Unilever. He was NHS London’s first Director of Finance and Performance and more recently held the post of Director of Finance and Investment. In this role he oversaw a significant financial recovery programme for London’s PCTs and Trusts and focused on the development of strategies to deliver long-term viability and sustainability across the London health economy. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Paul Baumann "joined NHS London in May 2007 and brings over 22 years of experience of financial management and strategic leadership from his career with Unilever. He began his working life in Unilever's UK animal feeds business, undertaking a variety of finance and general management roles. He was involved in the eventual sale of the business to one of its leading competitors. He undertook financial leadership roles in operating companies in Germany and Ireland, culminating in the position of CFO of Unilever's largest European subsidiary in Germany. In 2001 he developed a strategy for the corporations finance function and became the founding director of the global Finance Academy. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants." [1]
