Paul A. Denett
Paul A. Denett, of Virginia, was nominated April 24, 2006, by President George W. Bush to be Administrator for Federal Procurement Policy in the Office of Federal Procurement Policy, Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Denett would replace David Safavian, who resigned September 16, 2005.
Denett is currently Vice President of Contracting Programs at ESI International. He was previously the Senior Vice President for Program Development and Government Affairs at Star Mountain Incorporated. [1]
"From 2001 to 2002, he was program director for Logistics Management Institute (LMI) and focused on the strategic improvement of government acquisition and grant management issues. ... From 1993 to 2001, Denett held the roles of director of administration & senior procurement executive SES in the Office of the Secretary for the Department of the Interior (DOI), where he managed and directed 900 employees in the areas of acquisition, grants, property management, and the National Business Center. He was elected vice chairman of the Government-wide Procurement Executives Council (PEC,) now called the Federal Acquisition Council (FAC). While there, he created and launched the government-wide acquisition intern program. As the vice chair of the Procurement Round Table, he created and still manages the Elmer Staats’ Young Acquisition Professional Excellence Award." [2]
In 1999, Denett, then Director of Administration and the Senior Procurement Executive at the Department of the Interior, had "over 30 years of Federal procurement experience." Denett retired from Interior in 2001. [3] [4]
Previously, Denett was at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, "where he served as Director of the Department's Office of Procurement," then moved on to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). [5]
Denett has degrees from Nasson College and George Washington University. [6]
