Pat Hinton founded the Melbourne-based PR firm Hintons in 1996.

In 1996 Christopher Webb wrote that Hinton, had in recent years been the "bulk business getter at the flackery Burson-Marsteller" before leaving to set up his own firm. "Hinton," Webb wrote, "was instrumental in attracting some big corporate names to Burson's client list and the big worry is that a collection of them will follow him through the door". B-M had worked for the Commonwealth Bank, National Mutual, CSL, Mobil, Gandel, Campbell's and GUD.[1]
