Pam S. Levin

Statement :"I, Pam Levin have been a Board member of the International Institute of Rural Reconstruction since March 1997, have been its NGO representative at the UN for at least twenty years and am currently treasurer of the Committee on Sustainable Development. My husband, Nathan Levin, became a Board member of IIRR more than thirty years ago and my interest began soon thereafter when I accompanied him to the Philippines where we spent several days with Dr. Yen and Juan Flavier, visiting the barrios and learning about the operation. We also visited the program in Taiwan and visited and revisited the program in Thailand. My interest and knowledge increased when I assisted my husband in the preparation of a lecture about IIRR which he gave at Columbia University.

"My other current Affiliations include: Citizens' Committee for Children of New York – honorary board member; Women’s City Club – member; New School for Social Research, honorary member of Graduate School of Management & Urban Policy; and the Cosmopolitan Club – member.

"I assisted my husband in the International Executive Service Corps assignment in Ethiopia by studying the Social Service programs and writing a handbook for the use of foreign personnel assigned to Ethiopia. Also I accompanied my husband on the U.S. State Department Inspection tour to South Africa and several other African countries with the assignment for me to evaluate educational facilities for the U.S. personnel. I’ve widely traveled to Mexico, Europe, Africa and Asia including China." [1]
