OSS

Used as an acronym for Open Source Software, but also almost exclusively used by the media and people likewise unengaged in the communities that tend to produce software ostensibly referred to by the term 'OSS'. In casual discussion, such as on technical IRC channels, it seems that only the clearly ignorant or bizarrely adversarial ever refer to 'OSS'.

'Open source': a nearly synonymous but untainted term.
