Nuclear Matters is a pro-nuclear energy front group which describes its mission as "to inform the public about the unparalleled benefits that nuclear power plants provide our nation."[1] However, Nuclear Matters fails to disclose on its website that its primary source of funding is Exelon, which is the nation's largest operator of nuclear power plants.[2] Its PR firm is Sloane & Company, which also works for Exelon and according to PRNewswire, Sloane & Company admitted that "Exelon is not just 'among the funders' of Nuclear Matters. It is currently the primary funder of the front group and funds from other interests are now being sought."[3]
Its co-chairs are former Senators Evan Bayh (D-IN) and Judd Gregg (R-NH).[4]
