The Notre Dame Prize for Distinguished Public Service in Latin America "is the only award of its kind to recognize the efforts of visionary leaders to enhance the region’s welfare. It celebrates the significant role public figures play in strengthening democracy and improving the well being of the citizenry. By making these awards, we hope to draw hemisphere-wide attention to outstanding leadership in public service.
"Established in 1999 and first awarded in 2000, the Notre Dame Prize is funded by a grant from The Coca-Cola Foundation and administered by the Kellogg Institute for International Studies at the University of Notre Dame." [1]
