The Northern Territory National Emergency Response Bill 2007 was the legislation to implement a package of measures announced in June 2007 by Australian Prime Minister John Howard and Mal Brough to deal with what they described as "a national emergency in relation to the abuse of children in indigenous communities in the Northern Territory." [1]
