Normando Hernández González is the Reagan-Fascell Democracy Fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy (NED). He is a former prisoner in Cuba, designated by Amnesty International as a "prisoner of conscience". Hernandez was active in Cuba promoting alternative news until he was arrested. Thereafter, at NED he is researching means to undermine the Cuban state media monopoly.[1]
Since his release from jail, Hernandez has been accused of having close ties to Cuban-right-wing groups, including one engaged in terrorist acts in Cuba.[2]
