In January 2009: "Nomboniso Gasa of the South African Commission for Gender Equality warns SADC that the ’Save Zimbabwe Now’ initiative is going to put their own checks in place to monitor SADC’s success after Monday’s summit." [1]

In 2009 Nomboniso Gasa took over from Kumi Naidoo as part of a hunger strike in the fight for the people of Zimbabwe.
