R. Noel Clinard, Esq., is an attorney and a partner in the law firm of Hunton & Williams, based in Richmond, Virginia. From his company bio, his "litigation practice focuses primarily on e-discovery litigation preparedness and litigation, with extensive prior litigation experience in trade regulation, antitrust, business torts, franchising, intellectual property, and state and local procurement." He specializes in defense of attorney-client and work-product privilege claims. [1]
Mr. Clinard represents Philip Morris (PM) in major litigation against the company. In 1995, he represented PM in their lawsuit against American Broadcasting Company after they broadcast a "Day One" segment on nicotine manipulation.[2] He represented Philip Morris in the Howard Engle case, a class action on behalf of hundreds of thousands of sick Florida smokers, which initially resulted in an award to the plaintiffs of $145 billion.[3] He also worked on the U.S. Department of Justice's 1999 case against the tobacco industry [4]
