The Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA) describes itself as "a non-profit educational organization which was founded in 1964 and has grown into a membership of over 300 members ... comprised of individuals, agencies and companies involved in municipal and industrial wastewater engineering, collection, analysis, treatment, operations and disposal."
