The National Center for Responsible Gaming is the affiliated charity of the the American Gaming Association. The NCRG is an industry-funded organization funded almost entirely by gambling and gambling-affiliated interests. Funders include Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc., International Game Technology, Mandalay Resort Group, MGM Mirage and Park Place Entertainment Corporation. Multi-year funding for 2008 was derived from:

  • $2,000,000 from Harrah’s Entertainment, Inc. MGM Mirage
  • $1,000,000 from International Game Technology
  • $500,000 from Ameristar Casinos, Inc., Boyd Gaming Corporation, Isle of Capri Casinos, Inc.
  • $250,000 from Penn National Gaming, Inc., Station Casinos, Inc., WMS Industries
  • $225,000 from Wynn Resorts, Limited

Studies funded by NCRG focus exclusively on non-casino causes of compulsive gambling, like genetics, "neuroscience," (the relationship between substance abuse and gambling), adolescence, "computer addiction," individual personality traits, etc.

NCRG sponsors an annual conference on gambling addiction, which is held at a casino.[1]
