Author of many articles and other publications, including most recently Islam, Secularism and Liberal Democracy: Toward a Democratic Theory for Muslim Societies (Oxford University Press, 2009)." He obtained his Ph.D. in 2005 from the University of Toronto. The dissertation title was “Rethinking the Relationship between Religion, Secularism and Liberal Democracy: Toward a Democratic Theory for Muslim Societies” (Supervisor: Professor Frank Cunningham).

"Co-ordinator of the Carleton University Ad-hoc Committee on Bosnia. Responsible for organizing a lecture series on Balkan human rights and political issues. Some of the speakers included: Roy Gutman, Kemal Kurspahic, David Rieff, Lawrence Lifshultz, Christopher Hitchens, Amila Buturovic and Michael Sells."
