Biographical Information

"Dr. Mohamed Charfi was educated in Paris and at the Faculty of Law in Tunis. His political activities included service as Minister of Education, Higher Education and Scientific Research from 1989 to 1994. In the years since, Dr. Charfi was Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Juridical, Political and Social Sciences in Tunis. In addition, he served as Vice President and subsequently President of the Tunisian League of Defense for Human Rights.

"Dr. Charfi previously held directorial positions at the Department of Private Law, and faculty positions at the Faculty of Juridical Sciences of Tunis. He also served as Director of the Research Center and was Chief Redactor of the “Revue Tunisienne de Droit.” His major publications span topics that include law, individual rights, education reform, and the influence of religion on international law."[1]
