Michael Bowman has served as the Senior Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives for the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) since 2006.[1]

ALEC is a corporate bill mill. It is not just a lobby or a front group; it is much more powerful than that. Through ALEC, corporations hand state legislators their wishlists to benefit their bottom line. Corporations fund almost all of ALEC's operations. Background
Previously, Bowman served as a lobbyist for the Family Research Council from 1999-2001, and was a lobbyist for DRS Technologies, a U.S.-based defense contractor[2] from 2001-2008.[3] [4] According to the ALEC website, Bowman "has more than 18 years of state legislative experience including seven years of experience in coordinating state and federal legislation. Mr. Bowman also has nine years of lobbying experience in California and an additional two years serving as legislative staff in the California Legislature."[5]
Right Wing Watch shows that Bowman is also President of the Madison Project, a self-described group whose mission is "to help and support new conservative 'family values' anti-choice candidates, to build a 'true pro-life, conservative majority.'"[6]
