Max V. Sisulu Deputy Chairman of African General Equity Group.

"Max Sisulu is Group General Manager at SASOL. He joined SASOL in November 2003. He was formerly Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Denel (Pty) Ltd, a post he held since November 1998.

"From 2001 to 2003 he was the Chairperson of the AMD (South African Aerospace, Maritime and Defence Industries). He is also a council member of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and a member of the Premier of the Free State’s Economic Advisory Council (PEAC).

"In January 1995 he was elected to the National Executive Committee (re-elected in December 2002) and National Working Committee of the ANC, serving on its economic transformation and finance sub-commitees.

"He is also a trustee of the Umkhonto We Sizwe (MK) Veterans Association. Sisulu was instrumental in drafting South Africa’s Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) document which was subsequently adopted by government and all parties in parliament. Sisulu went on to chair the influential Parliamentary Select Committee on the RDP until the end of 1996.

"In 1997 Sisulu became the Chief Whip of the Majority Party of the National Assembly. From 1992 to 1993 Sisulu completed a Masters degree in Public Administration (MPA) at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in the U.S. He returned to South Africa in September 1993 and took up the post of Director of the National Institute of Economic Policy until he became a member of parliament in 1994." He is married to Elinor Sisulu and his father is Walter Sisulu. Sister is Lindiwe Sisulu.
