Mary Schapiro was appointed chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission by President Barack Obama. Prior to her appointment, Ms. Schapiro served as the head of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). In 2009, Ms. Schapiro was 53 years old. [1]
