Mary Lawlor , Director of Front Line.

"During more than 25 years working for Amnesty International's Irish Section as Chair and then Director, Mary Lawlor had been constantly inspired by the work of human rights defenders who time after time put their vision of a civil and just world for all ahead of their own safety. In 2001 she set up Front Line, the International Foundation for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, in partnership with Irish businessman Denis O'Brien. Since then Front Line has established itself as a respected and trusted organisation providing round the clock practical support and delivering fast and effective action on behalf of human rights defenders at risk. Mary Lawlor holds a BA in Psychology and Philosophy and post graduate diplomas in Montessori Teaching and Personnel Management." [1]
