Luis Lauredo
Luis Lauredo "is an international and governmental relations consultant with the law firm of Hunton & Williams. In this capacity, he advises US and European entities doing business in Latin America and Latin American companies and economic groups engaged in business in the US.
"From 2000-2001, he served as the US Ambassador to the Organization of American States and the US Government Coordinator for the Summit of the Americas, a gathering of 34 elected heads of state in this hemisphere, including President George W. Bush, held in Quebec City in April 2001. He also served as the Executive Director of the first Summit of the Americas, held in Miami in 1994.
"In December 2002, Ambassador Lauredo was appointed by President Bush to the Presidential Advisory Committee for Trade Promotion Negotiations. He was appointed to serve as Executive Director of the VIII Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) Miami Ministerial and Americas Business Forum, which took place from November 17-21, 2003.
"He previously served as Senior Vice President of the Export-Import Bank of the US and as a Commissioner of the Florida Public Utilities Commission from 1992-1994, City Councilman for the Village of Key Biscayne, Florida, and as the President’s Representative to the Southern Governors’ Energy Board. He has had an extensive career in the private sector.
"Ambassador Lauredo was honored by Hispanic Business magazine as one of the nation’s top “100 Influential Hispanics.” He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Columbia University. He also attended the University of Madrid in Spain and Georgetown University Law Center." [1] also see
