Leticia Ramos Shahani, "is a former Senator of the Philippine Senate. She is a reputed academic, having taught at several academic institutes both in Philippines and abroad. She has also served as the Ambassador for her country in Australia, Hungary, Romania and Germany. She also served the United Nations as the Assistant Secretary-General for Social Development and Humanitarian Affairs; Secretary-General of the United Nations Third World Conference on Women in Nairobi, Kenya; and Secretary-General of the United Nations Seventh Congress on Crime Prevention and Treatment of Offenders, Milan, Italy. She led the delegations of her country to several United Nations conferences. She is a member of several reputed international governmental and non-governmental organizations. Dr. Shahani has a B.A, Wellesley College, Massachusetts, USA, 1951; an M.A, Colombia University, New York, USA, 1953; Ph.D from University of Paris, 1962 and several honorary degrees. She has authored several publications." [1]
