Leslie Dach
Leslie Dach "is Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Government Relations for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. In that capacity he serves on the company’s executive committee and is responsible for its global communications activities, paid corporate advertising, and government relations. He also manages the Wal-Mart Foundation, America’s largest corporate foundation, with annual cash donations of about $250 million. He is an active participant in the company’s efforts in sustainability.
"Before joining Wal-Mart, Leslie was Vice Chairman of Edelman, a major global communications firm. At Edelman, Leslie was responsible for its Washington D.C. office as well as its research, advertising and corporate social responsibility consulting companies. He served on Edelman’s executive committee and directed the company’s global public affairs, crisis, technology and healthcare practices. Leslie managed some of the agency's most visible public affairs assignments, including work on ecomagination for General Electric, support for the 9/11 Commission, and strategic consultation for Habitat for Humanity, United Way of America and The Nature Conservancy.
"Leslie is an expert in issues management, image programs, and using communications to support legislative and regulatory objectives. Leslie is an experienced lobbyist, field organizer and media relations strategist. He maintains ongoing relationships with key leaders in the media, government and constituency groups.
"Leslie is active as a senior strategist in Democrat politics and has worked in senior positions in a number of presidential campaigns. He served as senior advisor for communication for the Democratic National Committee and the Kerry for President Campaign in 2004. In that capacity, he helped design the 2004 Democratic Convention, managed the Democratic response to the Republican Convention, and oversaw communications, research and surrogate operations. He also served the Clinton administration in a variety of project capacities, including special advisor to the chief of staff during the Kosovo conflict, and he managed the program at the 2000 Democratic Convention in Los Angeles.
"In addition to politics, Leslie worked for almost a decade as a lobbyist for a number of environmental groups, including the National Audubon Society and Environmental Defense. Dach has also served as special assistant to the chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
"Leslie has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Yale University and a master’s in public administration from Harvard University. He serves on the board of directors of the National Audubon Society and the World Resources Institute." [1]
