Dame Leonie Kramer established the Education Policy Unit at the Institute of Public Affairs (IPA) in 1988, and was a key IPA fund-raiser and power-broker.
She was appointed to the Board of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in 1977, by the Fraser Government, and was made Chairwoman in 1982. In 1983, the Hawke Government, on winning power, dumped the entire board, including Kramer.
She was Deputy Chancellor of the Sydney Univerity from 1989 to 1991, and Chancellor from 1991 to 2001.
She was also a member of the Advisory Board for the Tasman Institute between 1990-1991.
