Biographical Information

"In 1990, Leon Black founded Apollo Advisors, L.P. and Lion Advisors, L.P. to manage investment capital on behalf of a group of institutional investors, focusing on corporate restructuring, leveraged buyouts, and taking minority positions in growth-oriented companies. Since that time, Apollo and its affiliates have managed approximately $15 billion in such activities. Leon also co-founded Apollo Real Estate Advisors, L.P., which since 1993 has invested in more than $5 billion of real estate-related assets. From 1977 to 1990, Leon worked at Drexel Burnham Lambert Incorporated, where he served as managing director, head of the mergers & acquisitions group, and co-head of the corporate finance department. Leon is a director of United Rentals, Inc., Allied Waste Industries, Inc., and Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. Leon is a trustee of Dartmouth College, The Museum of Modern Art, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Prep for Prep, and The Asia Society. He is also a member of The Council on Foreign Relations, The [[[Partnership for New York City]], and the National Advisory Board of JPMorganChase. Leon graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College in 1973 with a major in philosophy and history and received a master of business administration from Harvard Business School in 1975."[1]
