"This year saw the launch of LCPT‘s first social enterprise: High Designs. The aim of High Designs is to unite the visual creativity of our clients with printed fabrics, develop the skills needed to do this and also gain experience of running a business: initially in the form of selling TShirts. After receiving a grant of £11,000 from Santander; lap-tops, software a scanner and various other items were purchased to enable fine artwork to be digitalised and printed onto T -Shirts. The opportunity for clients to see their designs placed on clothes that people have then wanted to buy has been an extremely positive experience for them, with one of the original 3 artists going on to gain full-time employment as a designer. Other clients who do not design but want to gain business experience have now become involved in selling the products at events such as Leicester Fabrica Arts Centre (the business launch) Summer Sundae, Gay Pride, and County Hall Friday market.
