LeRoy S. Troyer

"A Mishawaka, Indiana architect, LeRoy Troyer, has a broad range of interests and a variety of proficiencies. With Mennonite background, he has accepted his calling to reach out and serve others, focusing his architectural training on such goals as meeting the basic human need for shelter, the elimination of poverty housing, the advancement of global living standards, and raising awareness of environic concerns. He is the founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the Troyer Group, a sixty-person firm.

"Working for years with Habitat for Humanity, he served as an International Board Member, bringing his architectural training to the service of the homeless and the needy. Troyer’s position as a director for the Coalition for Educational Success of South Bend, Indiana, in addition to his service as director and advisory board member of several colleges and universities, shows Troyer’s dedication to education.

"The environment is another one of his passions. Beginning in 1968, he initiated, organized and then served as Secretary General of the organization and planning committee for the First International Youth Conference on the Environment held in Canada in 1971. He has been a trendsetter, with his design and construction of Southfield Village, Indiana, an intergenerational community that serves as a place where children, parents, and grandparents live together, from birth to death. Recently, he has given great time and effort to chairing the Miracle of Nazareth International Foundation, with the goal of preserving the city of Nazareth’s dignity and historic importance." [1]
