Kumar Periasamy
Kumar Periasamy is Director of International Disaster Relief for Operation Blessing International.
"Kumar Periasamy serves as the acting director of Operation Blessing International India. Kumar joined the OBI team at the Virginia Beach, Virginia, headquarters as a part-time international shipping coordinator in in 1998. The job later expanded to a full-time position, and Kumar was promoted to a regional manager. He was later promoted to acting director at the OBI offices in Hyderabad, India, where he coordinated efforts that reached an average of 1,200 people each month with fresh water, medical treatment and disaster relief.
"In addition, Kumar has directed extensive disaster relief and rebuilding efforts in Afghanistan, along with coordinating teams from OBI India to help survivors of the Southeast Asia tsunamis both on India’s coast and in Sri Lanka. He relocated to Virginia Beach in 2007 to step into his role as director of international disaster relief.
"Kumar began working with humanitarian organizations in 1980. He spent three years in an Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan and began serving as the deputy director of operations for WorldReach in Asia in 2000.
"Kumar was born and raised in Singapore. After attending Bethany College of Missions in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kumar and his wife lived in Singapore, northern Iraq and then Tajikistan. He attended Regent University in Virginia while working for Operation Blessing and earned a master’s degree in business." [1]
