Biographical Information
"Mr Kibuga Kariithi (Kibby) is the CEO of KARMA, a family office and Jamii Bora Management services, the group office of the Jamii Bora Group of Companies, a financial services group targeting the poor in Kenya. He is the immediate former CEO of City Finance Bank Ltd and arranged the merger between City Finance Bank Ltd and Jamii Bora Kenya Ltd. Mr. Kariithi is a founder of Baraka Africa Fund and a Director of Afrika Investment Bank, a member of the Nairobi Stock Exchange, with responsibility for corporate finance in Eastern Africa. Up to April 2005 he was the Chief Executive Officer of the Nairobi Stock Exchange. Prior to joining the Stock Exchange in 1999, he was Corporate Finance Director of Barclays Bank of Kenya (BBK). At Barclays, Mr. Kariithi headed the team responsible for Capital Market activities in East Africa and managed Barclays Merchant Finance Ltd (BMFL) the merchant banking subsidiary of BBK.He is a director at Kenya Revenue Authority, Treasurer of the National Council of Churches of Kenya, Chair of Church Army, East Africa – the missionary arm of the Anglican Church in Kenya; and a Board member of the Mathare Youth Sports Association – a slum youth programme; Jamii Bora Trust, a micro finance organization, a Board Trustee of Kenya Community Development Foundation (KCDF), Christians For Just Society, a regional Justice grouping; and Chairman of Life Ministry. In 2001, Mr. Kariithi was inducted to the World Economic Forum as a Global Leader of Tomorrow.Mr. Kariithi holds an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, York University, Toronto – Canada and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK)."[1]
