Keith Ajegbo

"Keith Ajegbo was Head of Deptford Green School for 20 years, retiring in July 2006. Deptford Green is a mixed comprehensive in North Lewisham in South East London with a multicultural intake in a socio-economically deprived part of the borough. During his time as Head the school gained a reputation as a neighbourhood school with good academic achievement. It also gained a national reputation for its work in citizenship education. He received the OBE for services to education in 1996 and was knighted in 2007. He led the writing of the report for the Secretary of State for Education on ‘Diversity and Citizenship’ launched in January 2007. Keith worked as an adviser to the government from 2006–9 and now works for Future Leaders, developing head teachers. Until 2013 he was the Chair of the Schools’ Linking Network. He is Chair of the Stephen Lawrence Trust, lead associate for education for the Institute for Community Cohesion and a trustee of the Citizenship Foundation. He is also an honorary fellow of Goldsmiths University."[1]
