Biographical Information

"Kay Fernandez Smith, a former Fulbright Hayes Scholar to the Philippines and a San Francisco Foundation Fellow, has worked with grassroots groups, public agencies, and philanthropic organizations to advance equitable development. As Deputy Director of the Promise Neighborhoods Institute at PolicyLink, her background in political strategy has informed her focus on a national antipoverty program modeled focused on the academic and life success of low-income children. Her other areas of expertise are affordable housing and transportation equity, as well as her efforts to raise awareness about infrastructure disparities facing low-income families and immigrant communities. She joined the Forward Together board in 2011."[1]
