Kathy Kidd

Kathy Kidd "joined the Army after high school seeking adventure and independence. Afterwards, and after graduating from University of Houston with a Political Science degree, she worked a short time in politics, including managing a political campaign in California. Kathy subsequently worked in hotel and restaurant management and event planning and also volunteered with organizations centered mostly on the welfare of children and the homeless (such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters and Child Abuse Prevention Council), including serving on the boards of the San Francisco AAUW chapter and of the Houston Peace and Justice Center. She has worked in financial services for the past 10 years, where as customer relations manager she did what she loves best – cultivating relationships. Kathy is a breast cancer survivor, an experience that turned her life around by leading her to rethink what was most important to her. She is working with the Department of Peace campaign because of her desire to bring healing to the political process and to be instrumental in creating and fostering a culture of peace in our country and the world. Among Kathy’s favorite quotes is Rumi’s, “Out beyond the idea of wrong-doing and right-doing, there is a field; I'll meet you there.” Another is Anita Roddick’s, “If you think you’re too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room.”"
