Kathleen Reen
Kathleen Reen "is the Vice-President for Asia, Environment and New Media, based in Bangkok, Thailand. She currently oversees projects in Thailand, East Timor, Indonesia, Pakistan and India.
"Reen has worked for Internews since 1996, managing media training and TV productions for Internews in Bosnia and Serbia, and founding Internews' program in Indonesia in 1998. As Country Director, she managed a project developing and implementing media legal reforms, radio training and productions, Internet connectivity and training, and local media NGO-building efforts.
"A journalist and documentary producer, Reen worked extensively in Eastern and Southern Europe and Southeast Asia before joining Internews. She produced programs about the 1993 Cambodian national elections, the war in Bosnia, and helped develop the UN mission's TV unit in Croatia and its partnerships with local television stations across the five Republics of the Former Yugoslavia.
"She has also produced programs for BBC, ABC Australia, South African Broadcasting Corp, CNN and Swiss Radio International, including an award winning radio documentary series about women in Central and Southern Europe called "Women of the Old Ottoman Empire."
"In 2006 Reen was honored to be selected as a fellow of the Asia Society's "Asia 21" program, one of 21 leaders from across Asia-Pacific and the US, all under 40, who share approaches to address global and regional challenges.
"Reen holds a bachelor of arts degree in communication and broadcast journalism from Charles Sturt University. In addition to her native English language, Reen speaks Bahasa Indonesian." [1]
