Joy Hyvarinen is the Director of the Foundation for International Environmental Law and Development.

"Before joining FIELD in November 2007, Joy was International Treaties Adviser to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, focusing on biodiversity. She was also a FIELD Associate and an Associate Fellow with Chatham House for many years. Her areas of interest include biodiversity, marine issues, international environmental governance and its relationship to development issues, and climate change. Joy has worked for the Institute for European Environmental Policy, WWF International, Greenpeace International and the International Maritime Organization. From 2000-2003 she served on the Board of the Verification, Research, Training and Information Centre (VERTIC)." [1]
