Joseph Manso

Joseph Manso is a career officer of the U.S. Foreign Service. He formerly served (in 2003) as "deputy chief of the political section at the U.S. Mission to NATO. He has previously served as deputy chief of the political section of the U.S. Mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and the political section of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico. He also served in the Office of European Regional Politico-Military Affairs in the Department of State.

"Mr. Manso spent four years on the U.S. delegation to the United Nations and the Security Council in New York, where he was the advisor on Latin American and Caribbean Affairs. He also served in the political section of the U.S. Embassy in Madrid.

"Mr. Manso holds nine awards from the State Department, including a Meritorious Honor Award for his work on the Nicaraguan Peace Process, and a Superior Honor Award for his work on the Salvadoran Peace Process.

"Prior to entering the Foreign Service in 1985, Mr. Manso practiced law in New York and Madrid. He is a graduate of Fordham College and Fordham Law School, and completed graduate study at the University of Madrid Law School. His languages are Spanish and French. He is married to Patricia Racicot and has two daughters. He was born in New York City in 1956." [1]
