Joseph Bettis
"As a professor and published author on Theology and World Religions, Joseph has travelled around the world literally three times visiting the holy sites of the world’s great religions. He grew up as a Methodist Christian in Texas and is now a practicing Buddhist.
"Joseph holds a BA in Philosophy from Southern Methodist University, a BD in Christian Theology from Drew University and MA and PhD in Religious Studies from Princeton University. He was founding Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Alabama and taught at the University of Nebraska, Western Washington University, and Northwest Indian College.
"Joseph has published articles and books on theology and religion including his books “Phenomenology of Religion” and “Return of the Millennium” and has just completed a book of true short stories about his adventures on the Inside Passage.
"Joseph has found his physical and spiritual home on a small island north of Seattle and spends much of his time on his classic wooden boat, Orina, on the Inside Passage from Washington through British Columbia and Alaska." [1]
